Mexico Coast to Coast - Spring 2001
The Ultimate Cycle Challenge
Guy Bashford and his brother Giles are currently helping the Children's Society charity by tying to raise at least £5000 over the forthcoming year. They are arranging a number of charity events leading up to the spring 2001
Mexico Coast to Coast Cyle Challenge. All the staff here at First 48 fully support their challenge and wish him well with their ongoing efforts. We hope that these regularly updated pages will help Guy and Giles to reach, and even better, their £5000 target, so please make a contribution if you feel you can. Guy tells us more...
Why are we raising money for the Children's Society?
We both work with, and have an interest in the wellbeing of young people. I myself work as an Environmental Resources Assistant for Dacorum Borough Council (based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire) and a large proportion of my job involves working with young people on a range of environmental improvement and educational projects. Meanwhile my brother (Giles Bashford) works for The Children's Society with a project called Youth Link, who work with young people on the streets of Birmingham, many of which have run away from care or home.
Also as an Environmentalist I believe that it is vital that as a society we protect vulnerable sections of our younger generation and enable them to live their lives to an acceptable standard of living and quality of life. The future of our global environment rests very much in their hands - what will they think and do when we demand they take action to protect our planet when we have failed to protect them?
