London Marathon
16 April 2000

No pain, no gain 26 miles, 265 yards, 2 sore feet. All things considered and lessons learnt from the Kingston run I found my first marathon to be a unique and very fulfilling experience. The atomsphere was something else! With £500 being raised in the process. I managed to complete the thing (without drugs) in 3hrs 28mins with only a sunburn being the main source of pain. Being a Ginger brummie this can be expected. As I was raising money for the Children's Society I even got my feet massaged at the end of the race - poor girl, my feet are not very nice at the best of times!

I Finished in front of Roger Black as well as a hobbling Frank Bruno. However that Blue Peter bloke still beat me!

Many thanks to everyone. If you didn't get the chance to sponsor me, don't worry there will be plenty of opportunities, as my brother Giles who works as an outreach worker for the Children's Society in Birmingham, and I, are aiming for a series of events (car boots sales, garden work, runs, haircuts, cycle rides etc) throughout the year so watch this space.
