Heavy duty jump leads - 70mm cross section cable recommended for big diesels

Strong piece of wood for putting jack on

Tyre pump (electric preferably)
Strong plastic sheet or equivalent for lying under van
Spanners, socket set, screwdrivers, pliers, snips, allen keys, star drives, plug spanners, feeler gauges, adjustable spanners, self gripping wrench, sharp knife, hand drill/cordless electric drill hacksaw, etc (even if you can't use them they may help someone who can)
Tyre levers (optional - get the local garage to help you practice with them)
Magnet on flexible stalk
Strong wheelbrace + extension arm (try changing a wheel before you set off)

Big roll of tank (canvas) tape
Sellotape all weather tape (good for sticking cracked windows etc)
